Music Box is a variable font with two axes: “Amplitude,” for the size of each letter’s negative spaces, and “Frequency,” for the direction of those negative spaces. I’ve made a few fonts that explore that kind of directionality (looking at you Mini Mochi), but I thought it’d be fun to connect this idea to a musical concept. For this specimen, that’s a kick-snare beat.
